Annandale Elementary School

Annandale, MN

This is a new 146,300-square-foot elementary school built to Silver LEED standards. The building consists of a 111,300-square-foot main level with a 35,000-square-foot upper level. It has a capacity for 1,000 students; 900 kindergarten through fifth grade and 100 pre-schoolers with the ability to easily expand the building. This $22 million project incorporates numerous energy-saving features as well as several upgraded safety and security features over the former elementary school. One main safety element is the separation of bus traffic and parental drop-off traffic. All bus traffic was located at the rear of the building with drop-off traffic and parent/teacher parking limited to the front of the building. Another is a lockdown button at the main office that allows all outside doors to be secured from an outside threat at the touch of one button.
